Tawa pizza is an easy method to make pizza without an oven by using tawa or pan. Tawa pizza turns out best when the dough is prepared without yeast and uses baking soda and baking powder to have the same effect. The topping used in this recipe is the regular vegetable or vegetable of your choice. And lastly, I used wheat flour instead of all-purpose flour to make it healthier. I personally like this recipe because it is quick and without cheese pizza.

Ingredients
For pizza dough
- 2 cup whole wheat flour
- ยฝ cup all purpose flour - maida
- ยฝ tsp baking powder
- ยฝ tsp baking soda
- 1 tbsp powder sugar
- Salt to taste
- ยผ cup curd
- 2 tbsp oil
- ยพ cup water
For creamy White sauce
- 1 tbsp butter
- 4-5 chopped garlic cloves
- 1 tbsp all purpose flour
- ยฝ cup milk
- Salt to taste
For instant pizza sauce
- Pizza sauce
- ยผ cup tomato sauce
- 1 tsp red chilli sauce
- ยฝ tsp red chilli flakes
- ยฝ tsp mixed herbs
For Pizza topping
- Small onion pieces
- Small green capsicum pieces
- Small red tomato pieces
- Red chilli flakes
- Mixed herbs or pizza seasoning
Instructions
For dough
- In a mixing bowl, add wheat flour, white flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, salt, curd, and oil.
- Mix well with your fingertips for even mixing, then add water little by little and knead to form a semi-soft dough not too stiff not too loose just like our paratha dough.
- Cling wrap the dough and leave aside for at least 2 hours in a warm place.
- Meanwhile, prepare the two sauces.
For white sauce
- Add 1 tbsp butter to a pan. Then add chopped garlic cloves and sautรฉ it.
- Add 1 tbsp maide and sautรฉ till it changes its color.
- Add milk and stir continuously.
- Then add salt and cook till the sauce thicken.
For instant pizza sauce
- In a bowl, add tomato sauce, red chili sauce, and red chili flakes, and mix herbs in it.
- Mix well.
Making pizza
- After 2 hours, punch down and divide the dough into 3 equal balls.
- Take a ball and flatten it thick or thin as per your liking, I made a medium thick base. Prick with a fork.
- Arrange heavy bottom tawa on gas.
- Carefully transfer the base to the tawa. Simmer and cook for 3 minutes on low flame.
- Grease tawa with oil then flip to another side of the pizza.
- Spread pizza sauce, and white sauce and arrange chopped onion, chopped capsicum, and chopped tomatoes on it.
- Sprinkle red chili flakes and pizza seasoning on it.
- Cover and cook for 8-10 minutes on low flame or until pizza is cooked from both side and the base become crispy.
- Switch off, remove and cut into wedges and serve immediately
Notes
- Use a thick bottom pan for making a pizza recipe because a heavy bottom pan avoids burning the pizza base.
- Knead pizza dough for around 10 to 12 min for a soft and smooth dough. If you do not knead the dough properly then the base will be chewy.
- Roll the pizza dough slightly thin, so that the pizza base gets cooked quickly.
- I flip side of cooking pizza on tawa, which helps the veggies, as well as cheese, not get golden.
- Pizza is cooked on low flame.
- Finally, pizza made from this recipe is soft inside with crispy edges.
